A Visit To The Merril Collection of Science Fiction, Speculation & Fantasy…
Today, I was lucky enough to pass through the Canadian city of Toronto.
I saw the usual things as a tourist including the very impressive CN Tower. I stayed in a place on College Street, the same street where The University Of Toronto is situated.
Walking on this same street back to where I was staying, I came across a library with that has a collection devoted to Science Fiction, Speculation and Fantasy, it is called The Merril Collection it is named after the late famous science fiction writer and Toronto resident Judith Merril who lived in Toronto from the 1960’s.
One of the librarians kindly gave me a tour. It has so many books and the graphic novel collection is one of the biggest ones I have seen. The link above and also if you click on the photo you will be taken to the on-line database. This database has an extensive wealth of information alone. For example, many old science fiction books in my collection back in the UK have artwork where it is difficult to find out about the artists by just looking them up on Wikipedia. The next time you are looking for information about that obscure little science fiction book you have in a back drawer you may just find what you are looking for either by visiting here or going to their on-line database!
