Create 3d Animations, Games, 3d Prints And More…What Do You Want To Make?
Blender is a free open source 3d modelling/animation software application, use it to make computer games, 3d models, animations and much more and get professional results. It is also a perfect tool within FabLabs for creating models for 3d printing, laser-cutting, Arduino projects and more. These workshops will give you the skills to start using Blender for your own creative goals especially within the FabLab environment.
In both workshops, you will work on your own projects or in groups and ‘learn by doing’. Your own laptop and a mouse with a middle wheel is preferred! Contact us today to book, places are limited…

The first workshop introduces you to Blender and is for everyone with little or no experience with the application and for those who need a ‘refresher’. Lesson modules include –
Getting used to the Blender interface
Modelling a simple 3d object or scene of your choice
Adding simple materials and textures into your 3d object or scene
Adding simple lights into your scene
Rendering images of your scene
Exporting your simple models for 3d printing or lasercutting
Brainstorming and sharing ideas in the group end session
Workshop 2: Going Further With Blender (PUT DATES AND PRICES HERE)
The second workshop will enable you to go into more detail and use advanced processes to develop your ideas and projects especially within the context of The FabLab. Lesson modules include –
Primer for the basics of good 3d modelling techniques and mastering the Blender interface
Advanced modelling techniques and use these to model a detailed object or scene of your choice
Use of laser scanners and 123d catch to capture real world objects
Advanced lighting in your scene
Advanced materials and textures in your scene
Advanced rendering of your scene
Export your models for 3d printing and use the laser cutter with 3d graphics and 123d make
Using physics simulations in your 3d scene
Quick primer on 3d character rigging and how to ‘cheat’ using the free ‘Make Human’ application
Arduino and Blender.
Going further with 3d graphics and sharing ideas in the group end session
A testimonial from the last workshop in Montreal, Canada-
“James’ approach to the software is very refreshing. Not only does he give us an understanding of the basic tools and features of the software but he also shows us how to put to use the essence of each software in order to fit into the development of our particular projects” Maïa Djambazian
